Art + Math is a biweekly newsletter with a focus on photography and the business of being creative. It is written by me, Bill Sawalich, a working photographer and former contributing editor for magazines like Outdoor Photographer and Digital Photo Pro.

The reason I’m usually behind the camera.

Subscribers to Art + Math are supporting one man’s vision for a new kind of photo magazine. I ignore the algortithm entirely, which means I’m writing about things I think real people are interested in. (They’re interesting to me, at least!) Instead of camera reviews and pandering to advertisers, I cover topics such as inspiration and motivation, navigating the challenges of the creator economy, and how to find fulfillment while attempting to make a living with a camera in hand.
